Asa G. Hilliard III and Barbara A. Sizemore Research Course on African Americans and Education
The Asa G. Hilliard III and Barbara A. Sizemore Research Course on African Americans and Education pairs early career scholars and advanced graduate students directly with some of the most respected researchers in the field to explore questions and methods related to expanding opportunities and improving the experiences of African Americans in education.
During the annual, one-day course, participants are exposed to the fundamentals of developing a research agenda and career focused on conducting research on African American populations in education. Any scholar whose primary research focus is related to broadening opportunities and improving outcomes for African Americans in education may apply to participate.
The annual event is in April and coincides with the American Education Research Assoiation (AERA) annual meeting. It is hosted by the Organizational Disparities Laboratory and the Urban Education Collaborative.
The Hilliard-Sizemore Research Course is offered in three formats:
A one-day
in-person intensive held annually in April
Six-week
hybrid course held twice each year
Asynchronous course to complete at your own pace

International Colloquium on Black Males in Education (ICBME)
The International Colloquium on Black Males in Education is an annual, international gathering that serves as a space to exchange ideas and perspectives concerning the global dynamics of expanding opportunities and improving outcomes for Black males in the educational pipeline.
First held in 2012, it is a community-building experience that brings together world-class scholars, high-impact practitioners, policy makers, funders, students, and concerned citizens across the globe.
