The Organizational Disparities Laboratory is an awardee of the 2024 Michigan State University Tetrad Initiative for Interdisciplinary Research. The selected project, titled “Exploring Perceptions of Merit and Opportunity in the Geosciences” will primarily explore how academic geoscientists define and understand the concepts of merit and opportunity in relation to career advancement, departmental leadership, and access to professional development.

Kayla Gross, assistant director of the ODL, Julie Libarkin, professor in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences, and Edward Timke, assistant professor in the Department of Advertising & Public Relations, serve as co-primary investigators for the project.

The Tetrad initiative, launched in Fall 2023, is designed to foster new cross-unit and cross-college collaborations among Michigan State University faculty who have not worked together before, resulting in projects that create opportunities for extramural support of unique research programs.

The Organizational Disparities Laboratory is located in the Michigan State University College of Education.
